“Design Foundation: furniture design in Lithuania in 1960s” at the "Furniture. Interior. Design" 2017 at the LITEXPO

“Design Foundation” took part at the internation exhibition "FURNITURE. INTERIOR. DESIGN 2017" at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO on 2017 October 5 - 8 in cooperation with Lithuanian Design Forum curated project "The Design Gallery" presenting:

  • Video interviews about the Furniture designers from the 1960s and particular Furniture Design Bureau established in Vilnius in 1957
  • Unique lamp by Vytautas Čekanauskas lamp (1966) created for Composers’ House (restored by “Torem”)
  • Lamps “Composer I” and “Composer II”, interpretation of Vytautas Čekanauskas lamp (1966) created for Composers’ House (“Torem”)
  • Transforming chair by Lygija Marija Stapulionienė (1960) (restored by “Old-new”)
  • Chair from living room set “Oak” by Valerija Ema Cukermanienė (1964) (restored by “Old-new”)
  • Archival photos from the 1960s from Lithuanian Central State Archives

The exposition was part of the ongoing project “Design Foundation: actualizing history” carried out in collaboration with the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Lithuanian Design Forum, Lithuanian Central State Archives, Lithuanian Composer’s Union and Modern Art Center.
